Fine Arts Academies constitute the highest level of artistic education in Italy.
The Rome University of Fine Arts is the only
Academy of Fine Arts legally recognized by the Italian Ministry of University
and Research (M.U.R.) - High Artistic and Musical Education
(A.F.A.M.).
The Fine Arts Academy Diploma obtained
is equivalent to the Diploma of HIGHER EDUCATION in all European
countries, corresponding to the BACHELOR OF ARTS HONOURS. Graduates
are entitled to enroll in 2nd Level Academic Degree Courses, for
a full Degree (five years) in several Arts Universities across Europe
and in those countries outside Europe which have a bilateral agreement
with Italy regarding recognition of academic qualifications. The
Fine Arts Academy Diploma grants accessto public competitions for
teachers of artistic disciplines in public and private institutions
Characterizing Educational
Objectives
The Academic Diploma Course of 1st level has the objective to assure an adequate
mastery of methods and artistic techniques, as well as the acquisition of specific
disciplinary and professional competences.
It is the RUFA’s mission to prepare qualified artists and professionals
who, taking account of the pluralism of expressive languages and the innovations
in the techniques that characterize the contemporary age, are in a position
to develop their own avenues of individual seeking as much within the arts
tied to the techniques of tradition as in the elaboration and the experimentation
of new expressive languages.
The graduates in the diploma
course for each sector must:
- possess an adequate basic practical and technical preparation relative to
the fields of study to be taken up in the various areas of the Arts, techniques
and technologies;
- possess the appropriate methodological and critical tools to use for the
acquisition of competences in the expressive languages, as well as of the most
advanced techniques technologies within the contexts of the manifestations
tied to the specific sector;
- be in a position to effectively use at least one language of the European
Union, beyond the mother tongue, acquiring a sufficient communicative competence
for the exchange of general information and the discussion of topics pertaining
to the realm of the Arts;
- possess adequate competences and tools for information management and communication,
in particular as regarding computer systems and technology.
The graduates will carry out professional activities in various settings:
- free-lance artistic professions and research in the field of the visual arts;
- collaboration in creative activities and in the planning, design and implementation
of specific tasks.
The Academy organizes, in cooperation with private and public agencies, internships
and other appropriate training opportunities in order to assist the student
in attaining specific professional skills and requirements.
Admission to the Academy
Minimum prerequisite is a Secondary School Diploma.
Duration
The Academic Diploma of 1st Level is achieved after having obtained at least
180 credits.
Instructional objectives and professional
characteristics
The Academic Diploma course of 2nd level has the objective to furnish the student
with an artistic preparation at an advanced level for the full mastery of artistic
methods and techniques and for the acquisition of high professional competences.
RUFA aims to endow the students with an adequate professional preparation to
useful for entering the job market, offering specific courses in the curriculum
of the two years of the Second Level Degree, closely correlated to the actual
productive reality presents on the regional and national territory.
Practical activities, seminars and internships at workshops chosen for the
purpose, will offer to the students the opportunity to be guided during the
development of their own research, through an innovative methodology of experimentation.
The result to be achieved is therefore that of preparing a professional figure
of a high artistic, creative and design profile:
- a freelance capable of exercising the profession on his/her own through the
creation and management of artistic and professional workshops and studios
and also capable of placing on the market products with innovative characteristics
such as to re-qualify the lines of the artistic production
- an expert in the field that with his/her technical-artistic
preparation can be of great support to industries often lacking in creativity
Admission to the degree course
Applications are welcome from graduates with degrees from the Fine Arts Academies
as well as University Degrees in disciplines similar to Fine
Arts (i.e.: Architecture).
Instructional approach
In the two-year course of study, instruction will include both the practical
workshop format (Painting, Sculpture, Stage Design, Art Design, Graphics
and Computer Studies) and theoretical-critical classroom study, in order
to deepen the historical and theoretical foundations of art, the theatre,
the cinema, television, giving attention to the fields of economy, sociology,
anthropology, aesthetics and history and philosophy of the Arts.
Duration
The Academic Diploma of 2° Level is achieved after having obtained at least
120 credits.
Instructional objectives and professional
characteristics
The two-years Specialization Courses allow students already graduated with
a First Level Academic Diploma to continue and complete their studies through
a two-year course, which may help them to have an immediate operational
approach.
RUFA aims to endow the students with an adequate professional preparation
to useful for entering the job market, offering specific courses in the
curriculum of the two years of the Second Level Degree, closely correlated
to the actual productive reality presents on the regional and national
territory.
Among the instruments committed to that end, the faculty will occupy a
prominent place.
The Professors will be well-known professionals operating in the fields
of the various disciplines involved, and therefore they will be able to
bring as contribution their considerable practical experience, together
with their cultural background.
Another creative incentive will be offered by new technologies and business
practices.
