RUFA
wireless is a project of the Rome University of Fine
Arts to provide the installation of a wi-fi infrastructure for
Internet connections. The aim of the project is to enable the
academic community (students, faculty and staff) to access Web
services using notebooks or handheld device / PDA (Personal Digital
Assistant) equipped with wireless network adapter compatible
with standard 802.11b and 802.11g.
You can surf the web in all our teaching and study structures (libraries, classrooms,
teaching laboratories).
The identifier name of our wireless network (SSID) is Rufawifi and
requires a passkey (i.e. WEP, WPA) for the connection. The connection is active
24 hours a day, every day.
The access is possible regardless of the operating system, feature that ensures
full compatibility with handheld devices and wi-fi mobile phones, as well as
all common laptops. The only requirement is a web browser installed.
The network parameters are obtained automatically through DHCP protocol: this
means that you do not have to worry about the configuration of your device. To
ensure the safety of the network access, is required user authentication. Once
connected, to use the available services, you have to open your preferred web
browser, access the start page and enter the access credentials. After these
few simple steps you can freely surf the web with an internet connection speed
up to 512 Kb/s download and 256 Kb/s upload.
The wi-fi Ethernet card must be compatible with the wirelessLAN IEEE 802.11b/g
standard. All new devices are normally provided of it. The wireless network operates
in 2.4 GHz radio band.
To be able to surf the internet in wi-fi mode
at RUFA, you must be necessarily:
- RUFA Students
- RUFA Professor
- RUFA Technical and administrative personnel
Before you can connect to the service you have to specifically request for
your web access credentials in our Secretariat.
