Creativity and professionalism
The Rome University of Fine Arts, (RUFA) legally recognised by Ministerial Decree (M.D. 04/10/2000), is the only private Art Academy in Rome able to issue educational qualifications equivalent to a degree of State Academy.
Although The RUFA actively co-operates with the State Academy in order to create in Rome a cultural and didactic double-pole of institutions dedicated to Fine Arts, RUFA’s innovative teaching plan aims at developing all the aspects of students’ artistic sensitivity. For this reason each student is seen as a “subject” with his/her own potential, which has chosen to put the world of expression at the core of his/her life.
As even the richest potential needs a human and didactic guide, RUFA’s teachers, through direct and serene relationships, will make the explorations of each student’s creative possibility pleasant and fruitful. In this context the teaching staff uses up-to-date methods, targeted to improve student’s creativity and professionalism.
Together with “traditional” didactic structures, all RUFA students have modern laboratories at their disposal, where they can learn to use the newest Information Technology tools. Conventions, meetings, exhibitions (also of students’ works), that take place in a dedicated area of the Academy, put the RUFA in the middle of Rome’s cultural life, and make the same Academy a starting point for students’ positive insertion in the job market.
All that is made possible as RUFA does not only mould future artists, stage designers, graphic and industrial designers and stylists, but also tries to develop their professionalism, taking into account cultural features and operating rules of our society.

"The Rome University of Fine Arts"
The cultural level of higher educational institutions of a city gives a clear idea of its culture. Rome is a European metropolis with about four million inhabitants and, although there are three State Universities, there is just one state Academy of Fine Arts.
This indicates an enormous difference between the availability of artistic education and the offer of other kinds of education dealing with the scientific or humanistic subjects. It is paradoxical that such a lack of high artistic educational happens to be in a town, which is universally considered as the cradle of art, because of its stunning historical and artistic background. The only existing state Fine Arts Academy, even playing an important role in the field of higher artistic education, is therefore not able to accept all the students, who apply in great numbers for enrolling in the state Academy. This is mainly due to the lack of space, as it has been denounced for many years. In this case students who are not accepted appear to be seriously prejudiced in their entrance in the job market, because of the delay caused by such a lack of artistic school institutions. In this way the International Art Academy, fully aware of the above- mentioned limitations, founded in Rome a new academic institution: the “ROME UNIVERSITY OF FINE ARTS”-“Libera accademia di Belle Arti di Roma”, legally recognised by Ministerial Decree (M.D 04/10/2000).
It does not aim at entering into competition or replacing the State Academy, but wants to fill the gap created by national institutions. It is therefore clear that the new private Academy is a worthy alternative to the state one, also adopting the same teaching syllabus (approved by the Education Ministry). The “Accademia” is in Rome, Via Benaco 2, nearby Piazza Verbano, in the area bordering on the Trieste, Salario and Parioli neighbourhoods.
The surroundings of the Academy are very prestigious because of their proximity, throughout a green area, to the historic city centre, and the high-middle classes social composition of the inhabitants. Besides, the area is well-connected by public transportation lines and it is only 20 minutes away, by bus, from the underground and railways stations of Roma Termini.
The Academy encourages an international mix of students. Many of them in fact, after having obtained their degree in artist subjects, apply to the school in order to undertake their graduate studies in Italy, especially in Rome, taking, in this way, part to the diffusion of Italian culture, according international agreements in force on the matter of international exchanges.
This prestigious academic Institution is therefore the ideal place where students can explore the possibility of harmony between the artistic Renaissance traditions and present and future trends. The main aim is to find new solutions, mixing the knowledge of the space and its plastic forms, the awareness of techniques and materials qualities, targeted to a practical application inside the industrial world, with the constant aid of digital and information technologies.
At the ROME UNIVERSITY OF FINE ARTS the results of this interesting mix of artistic creativity and digital technologies are not simple academic experimentation but real productions of visual arts, graphics and industrial design.
For this reason the Academy offers both traditional teaching equipment and very up-to-date laboratories, with all the newest information technologies. Furthermore the Academy actively co-operates with private enterprises at a national, community and international level.
The ROME UNIVERSITY OF FINE ARTS is not only a prestigious academic Institution but also an important interdisciplinary cultural centre. Conventions, meetings, exhibitions take place in a dedicated area of the school, making of the Academy a starting point for students’ positive insertion in the job market, by making the cultural and professional worlds interact.
