Enrollment Procedure

All foreign applicants -as well as Italian citizens holding foreign school leaving qualifications- have first to submit a sort of pre-enrollment application (domanda di pre-iscrizione), which is conditionally accepted by individual institutions.

With reference to all enrollment conditions (availability of study places, type of documentation, deadlines and place of delivery, stay permit, health assistance, etc.),

- citizens from EEA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) as well as from Switzerland enjoy the same treatment as EU nationals;

- non-EU candidates, once passed the entrance exam, are accepted within the limits of pre-determined quotas of available places; besides, depending on their places of residence, they may have to respect particular pre-enrollment procures and deadlines (see the items Delivery of pre-enrollment applications, and General conditions).

Only those candidates who have met all general and specific admission requirements are allowed to comply with final enrollment procedures.

1. Documents to be attached to pre-applications

a) school leaving qualification, in the original;

b) its official translation into Italian; offical translations are those performed by sworn translators or legalised- by Italian or foreign consular/diplomatic authorities;

c) the Dichiarazione di Valore, issued on the above qualification by the competent Italian diplomatic authority in the country of the education system of reference;

d) those applicants who have already completed a period of university studies outside Italy and wish a reduction in length of the chosen Italian CL, have also to submit:

- a transcript -or any other university official document- listing all the subject-courses already attended;

- the official translation into Italian of the univesity document mentioned here above;

- the syllabuses of the individual university subject courses they have already attended, along with their official translation into Italian.

All documents listed from letter a) to letter d) above must be legalised by the competent Italian diplomatic authorities abroad.

2. Delivery of pre-enrollment applications

a) Direct delivery to the chosen Italian university is allowed to the following categories:

- EU nationals, independently of their place of residence;

- non-EU nationals, if legally staying in Italy on a regular residence permit issued for study, work, or family reasons;

- Italians holding a foreign school leaving qualification obtained abroad or in one of the recognised foreign schools located in Italy.

b) Indirect delivery through the competent Italian diplomatic authorities abroad

Non-EU applicants living outside Italy have to submit their pre-enrollment applications to the competent Italian Embassies or Consulates which will then forward them to the Italian universities concerned.

Before delivering their pre-enrollment applications, all applicants, independently of their citizenship, must contact the competent Italian Embassies or Consulates abroad to have their documents legalised, as prescribed by law.

3. General conditions

The actual enrollment of foreign citizens in the chosen degree course may be subject to a few additional conditions mainly related to public order and social welfare, such as the holding of study visa, residence permits, health insurance, etc.

In particular:

* non-EU citizens

a) must get a study visa from the closest Italian Consulate in their countries;

b) must give evidence to be able to support themselves in Italy on the basis of their own financial means or through scholarships, grants or any other financial aid:
