The “SUMMER ACADEMY 2021” workshop aims to offer a high level education regarding paiting and artistic drawing, addressing the principles of painting through the use of materials and different painting methods.
Program of the workshop:
1st lesson – introduction to painting, use of materials and painting techniques. Grisaille painting, brightness and saturation. Painting exercises.
2nd lesson – introduction to artistic drawing and gesture drawing.
3rd lesson – drawing the human figure (photographs) through the techniques of gesture drawing.
4th lesson – colour theory, painting exercises with colour.
5th lesson – painting lab, breakdown of the shapes.
6th lesson – painting lab, simplifying the shapes.
List of materials
– Acrylic colors: titanium white, primary yellow, magenta or primary red, primary cyan or blue, burnt sienna, natural umber, cobalt violet, ivory black.
– Synthetic flat brushes, with short handle. Large size: number 18 or 20, medium size: number 14 or 16, small size: number 6 or 8, small size: number 2.
– HB and 6B pencil.
-1 A3 watercolour paper block (about 12 sheets).
– 2 A3 sketch pads (or similar size 30 x 40 cm) about 250 gr, 20 sheets.
– 1 offset spatula for oil painting
– A white rubber
– Pencil sharpener.

Partecipants: min 8/ max 15.
Beginning/end of the course: July 5 to 17, 2021.

Duration: 6 lessons (3 hours each.).

LECTURER: Fabrizio dell’Arno
Fabrizio Dell’Arno was born in Sao Caetano do Sul (Sao Paulo, Brazil) in 1977.
After graduating in Communication and Marketing in USCS University (Sao Paulo- Brazil) in 1999 he attended a postgraduate course in art history in College FAAP (Sao Paulo). He began his career as a teacher at the High School “Pueri Domus” (Sao Paulo-Brazil) teaching art and painting history. He also attended a scenography and art direction course in “Espaço Cenografico J.C. Serroni” working as an art director in many projects for theaters, cinema and television. Among other projects he worked as art director for the theatre group GRITE (experimental theater group). In 2003 he moved to New York, to study painting and drawing at SVA (School of Visual Arts), In 2005 he began a Master course in Sculpture in Italy at RUFA (Rome University of Fine Arts), where he works as a teacher since 2006 and currently holds the chair in the disciplines related to painting and painting techniques. In 1996 he began his exhibition activity in public and private galleries, while working also as an illustrator. Among his most significant works : historical illustrations for the Ministry of Culture of the Sultanate of Oman and a campaign for road safety in Italy “mettiti alla guida della tua vita”, promoted by the ASTM / SIAS, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure group and in collaboration with the United Nations.

At the end of the course, upon request, a certificate of attendance will be issued to those who have attended at least 5 of the 6 classes.
