Augusto Pieroni

A historian and contemporary art critic, he has been involved in conferences and presentations in Italy and abroad. He has curated numerous group and solo exhibitions, catalogues and presentations of Italian and international artists. Correspondent from Italy for “Aperture” (New York), Hotshoe (London) and Eyemazing (Amsterdam), he collaborates with the periodicals “Muse” (Milan), Around Photography (Bologna) and Luxflux – prototype” (Rome), with essays and articles on contemporary photography. Since 1992, he has worked as a freelance journalist for specialised magazines (Tema Celeste, Tate art magazine, Arte e Critica, Opening, Juliet etc.), dailies (Liberazione, Manifesto, etc.) and the radio (RadioRoma, Radio Rock etc.). He has directed the series of photographic books “LinguaggiLuce”, for edizioni Edup (Rome). A scientific consultant for FIOF – Fondazione Internazionale Orvieto Fotografia. Creator, in 2002, and co-ordinator of Photage: the photography section of Luxflux prototype – In charge of the media library of the Museum-Workshop of Contemporary Art of Sapienza University in Rome. He is an expert user of Mac and Windows and has created and maintained the website Educational qualifications: Research Doctorate in the History of Contemporary Art, Sapienza University, Rome (Thesis on Practices for redefining photography in the context of art), he has specialised (with honours) in Art History at the University of Siena (Thesis on a Theoretical approach to restoration of contemporary art), and earned a Degree (with honours) in Letters from Sapienza University, Rome (Thesis on Michelangelo Pistoletto).
