Gianluca Arcopinto was born in Rome on 25 September 1959. He graduated in Italian Literature and Production Organization at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. He has taught film and literature in various organizations and universities. He was tutor of the production students of the Experimental Centre of Cinematography in 1991. He coordinated and directed the “Production Organization” course of the Experimental Centre of Cinematography in 1992-1994. He taught Organisation and Production at the Experimental Centre of Cinematography from 2000 to 2018 and at the Volonté School from 2014 to 2019. Since 2019 he has been director of the Production course at the Experimental Film Centre. From 1985 to 1988 he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Experimental Centre of Cinematography. In 1993 and 1994 he was a member of the Educational and Cultural Commission of the Experimental Centre of Cinematography.
The films produced by Arcopinto have won 12 DAVID DI DONATELLO, obtaining 28 nominations; 7 NASTRI D’ARGENTO, getting 34 nominations and 5 special mentions; 1 nomination for the GOYA; 2 MIGLIOR FILMS at the CRITICAL WEEK of the Venice Film Festival; 1 mention at the PREMIO DE LAURENTIIS of the Venice Film Festival; 1 Tiger Award at the Rotterdam Film Festival; 1 mention at the INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION OF THE NEW CINEMA in Pesaro.
