Pino Quini

Born in Rome in 1950. After graduating from secondary school in electronics and nuclear energy, and from university in Electrotechnical Engineering, in 1971 he joined the State Institute for Cinematography and Television, where, until 1979, he worked as a Technical-Practical Engineer in the Television Filming Section. At the same time, he continued his activities in the field of documentary making and, in October 1979, won a competition by RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana, the Italian state broadcaster, where he was hired as a film and TV cameraman. Here he rose through the ranks, specialising – in the 1980s/1990s – as a Steadicam Operator. In 1994, he was promoted to the role of cinematographer, in which position he designed and managed, until 2012, the lighting systems for all the major TV programmes produced by RAI, also in collaboration with the top production companies. He taught at IED at the Master of Science Course in Set Design and Styling, and in the training course for the International Academy of Light (Accademia Internazionale della Luce). In 2012, he did the cinematography for the short “Cristalli” (Crystals), produced by AIDO, and directed by Fabio Solimini. He currently collaborates with TVKLAN ALBANIA, for which he has been curating, since 2012, the Kenga Majike Festival and the Diela Shiptare (Albanian Summer).
