Capturing the vibe of Ancient Rome through contemporary moulage, in collaboration with Tangoli<\/h4>\n

Encoding and decoding the archetype to reinvent fashion: a journey into the fashion aesthetics of Ancient Rome, through the practice of moulage and of the experimentation of shapes and sustainable fabrics. <\/h4>\n

This course is a fashion research laboratory that aims to explore the inspiration offered by Ancient Rome: the mosaics and paintings of Palazzo Massimo, the statuary of the Centrale Montemartini, read through the frame of the contemporaneity of fashion (Fortuny, Gres, Alaia, Schiaparelli, Versace and many others); to rework the ideas collected by the participants in free forms, made with fabrics with zero environmental impact; to dress on mannequins, according to the moulage technique which captures the principle of drapery, used by the ancient Romans.<\/p>\n

At the end of the course, a certificate of attendance is issued to those who have attended at least 80% of the lessons, for a possible recognition of 2 ECTS.<\/p>\n\n

\nParticipants:<\/strong> Min. 8, Max. 15 | The programme is open to university students and Academies of Fine Arts, Fashion Design, Design, History of Art, as well as adult learners across disciplines who want to explore fashion design with particular attention to the moulage technique and the critical approach to its impact.

\nRequirements\/supporting materials:<\/strong> No entry requirements. Sewing scissors, pins, tape measure, chalk sticks, leftover fabric or old items to upcycle, other fabrics will be detailed.

The course includes an introductory part of guided visits to museums and specific location in the city, not only to discover the ancient, but also to capture its contamination with metropolitan Rome, transforming one’s suggestions into inspiration for the choice of colors and fabrics that the participants will add in their carnet de voyage or moodboard, under the guidance of the lecturers. After a brief but exhaustive introduction to the moulage technique, the students will move towards the creation of their own creation on the mannequin, assisted by the lecturers. At the end of the course, the whole class will reflect on how to harmonise the styling and the display of their creations, according to an eco-design logic that trains the fashion designer to work both on an individual and collective basis, reflecting on the multi- relationality and the impacts of one’s fashion making.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n\n

Guenda Cermel<\/a><\/strong>
\nHead of Fashion who over the course of her career has developed an all-round professionalism combining design and strategy, gradually growing in role and responsibility in leading Italian and international companies: Stefanel, OVS, Coin, HSE. She entered the fashion world after studying History of Art and a New York parenthesis in the contemporary art market. She began as a junior designer, learning over time to manage the entire fashion process, starting from the creative (inspiration, design and production of the collection), strategic (budget, purchasing and sales), negotiation (worldwide sourcing and relations with brands), operational (merchandising and visual) and communication (marketing) aspects.
\nShe recently resumed her studies with a Master’s degree in Philosophy and a second Master’s degree in Integral Ecology and this has given her a totally new perspective on how to think about the fashion supply chain, stimulating her to put into practice, at every stage and as far as possible today, a new conscious and impact-conscious approach. Since 2021 she has been the coordinator and lecturer of RUFA’s three-year degree programme in Sustainable Fashion Design.<\/p>\n

ALESSANDRA DONATO<\/strong>
\nBorn and raised in Rome in a creative family, Alessandra began creating clothes for her friends at the age of sixteen.
\nAt eighteen, she moved to Paris to learn the art of haute couture, and she began her ten-year career in the world of fashion, sharing her time between London, Paris and Stockholm, and working for renowned brands such as Chanel, Balmain, Maison Margiela, Acne Studios. Now in Rome, she gave life to her artistic vision, and founded the fashion brand TANGOLI, a reality that makes sustainability its strength, through sustainable fabrics and haute couture dead-stock, made to order and \u201ckm 0\u201d work.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cTangoli\u201d proceeds from the Italian southern surname given to the brand’s founder Alessandra Donato grandmothers, seamstresses and weavers, wives and mothers with a passion for life and independence.
\nWith the choice of this name, Tangoli celebrates their talent and their legacy, by creating lasting dreams transformed into unique pieces.
\nTangoli is a reality that makes sustainability its strong point, through sustainable and recycled fabrics and haute couture dead-stock, made to order and \u201ckm. 0\u201d work.
