{"id":36947,"date":"2021-01-25T14:43:28","date_gmt":"2021-01-25T13:43:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unirufa.it\/?p=36947"},"modified":"2021-01-25T16:13:24","modified_gmt":"2021-01-25T15:13:24","slug":"neorural-futures-a-distanza-di-un-anno-ecco-la-monografia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unirufa.it\/en\/2021\/01\/25\/neorural-futures-a-distanza-di-un-anno-ecco-la-monografia\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8221;NeoRural Futures&#8221; one year on, the monograph is ready!"},"content":{"rendered":"In September 2019, <strong>RUFA Pastificio Cerere<\/strong> location, in the heart of the San Lorenzo district, hosted the <strong>&#8220;NeoRural Futures&#8221;<\/strong> experience, the summer school of the <strong>SpeculativeEdu<\/strong> research project.<\/p>\n<p>It was, specifically, a study plan funded by the <strong>European Commission<\/strong> through the <strong>Erasmus+ program<\/strong>, to investigate emerging practices and approaches of <strong>design fiction<\/strong>, <strong>near future<\/strong>, <strong>speculative and critical design<\/strong> and to create a <strong>textbook<\/strong> and an <strong>online toolkit<\/strong>, making the research accessible and consultable to lecturers, professionals and students.<\/p>\n<p>On that occasion, when terms such as &#8220;social distancing&#8221; or &#8220;pandemic&#8221; were found only in books and not in reality, RUFA ideally embraced students and faculty from <strong>Europe<\/strong>, <strong>the United States<\/strong>, <strong>China<\/strong>, <strong>Palestine<\/strong>, <strong>Brazil<\/strong>, <strong>Russia<\/strong>, <strong>Mexico<\/strong>, <strong>Turkey<\/strong>, <strong>India<\/strong>, <strong>Israel<\/strong> and <strong>South Africa<\/strong>. The forty selected participants who attended the different work sessions, led by an interdisciplinary team of ten members, including tutors and coordinators, have then investigated the transformations of rurality in relation to global phenomena to create future scenarios, using and testing the methods and approaches that emerged from the research, also creating an exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>About a year after that performing experience, <strong>the monograph of &#8220;Neorural Futures&#8221; curated by HER: She Loves Data<\/strong> has been published. The monograph is in English and documents the whole <strong>summer school<\/strong>: from concept to output, from methodology to process, it is a case study designed to be used by students, lecturers, professionals, institutions and cultural operators. In this moment speculative design is a very actual methodology: the world, all of a sudden, has completely changed and has to be faced as such.
