The exclusive setting of Villa Marini Cattaneo, in the city of Pordenone, hosts the performance of Juke Box, the fifth stage of “Playing Memories”, before moving on to Bogotá, Colombia. Playing Memories is a project by the Saint Louis College of Music, created in co-production with the Conservatorio Alfredo Casella de L’Aquila, la Fondazione Accademia Teatro alla Scala di Milano, RUFA and ISIA Roma.

“Juke Box” is an artistic residency of “Playing Memories”, a project by the Saint Louis College of Music, in co-production with: Conservatorio Alfredo Casella di L’Aquila, Fondazione Accademia d’Arti e Mestieri dello spettacolo Teatro alla Scala di Milano, RUFA, ISIA di Roma.

“Juke Box” is the title of the new artistic residency, conceived by dancer and choreographer Matteo Esposito, who presents an ambitious multidisciplinary performance with a strong performative character.

Villa Cattaneo becomes a protagonist of the performance, transforming itself into a true narrative device: a poetic juke-box capable of evoking not only music, but also memories, scents and people.

The rooms of the villa, its spaces and its pathways, are fragments of a journey through time and mystery. The audience is invited to explore them as parts of a mechanism in motion.

Each space is a track to be activated, a fragment of a song to be heard, a scent to be remembered or a character to be deciphered, whose name we do not know.

We encounter a man who regrets a forbidden love, a woman who carries the burden of being far from her homeland, a writer composing a letter to a friend she has never forgotten. Their lives are slowly revealed through hints, installations and visual and sound clues.

Welcoming the audience is an enigmatic and silent figure: a masked presence moving through the rooms like a ferryman of shadows, leading visitors from the entrance of the villa to the top floor, into the final room, where live music and dance take centre stage. The characters now interact, dancing until the final piece, the one that gives meaning to the entire journey.

The international performance will take place in Bogotá, at the Escuela de Artes y Creación – Universidad Sergio Arboleda, the partner institution of this residency, where “Jukebox” will be restaged in a new theatrical form designed exclusively for the stage.
