A service dedicated to the right to study and the inclusion of RUFA students.
RUFA pays particular attention to students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), disabilities and Special Educational Needs (SEN), offering support services designed to ensure equal opportunities throughout their academic journey.
The Support Service helps students manage their studies, examinations and academic workload while enhancing their individual strengths.
01
Specific Learning Difficulties
Specific Learning Difficulties include a diverse range of conditions that may affect the acquisition, organisation, retention and use of both verbal and non-verbal information.
With the right support, these difficulties do not limit academic success, but require appropriate time, tools and strategies.
02
Support measures
To support students throughout their academic journey, RUFA provides tools and accommodations designed to make studying, assessment and the organisation of activities more accessible. Measures are defined according to individual needs and the relevant programme of study.
study materials
Early access to teaching materials and support with organisation
additional time to complete examinations
advance information about the syllabus, bibliography, timetable and deadlines
use of assistive tools and exemption measures
advance information on examination procedures
ongoing communication with the lecturer or tutor

Learning Support Sessions
Since May 2023, RUFA has offered a programme of learning support sessions focused on theoretical subjects, an area in which students with SpLD or ADHD more frequently encounter difficulties.
The service is available to students whose SpLD diagnosis has been submitted to the SpLD Office, students with a disability recognised under Italian Law 104/92 that results in an SpLD, and students who have consented to the disclosure of this information to lecturers.
Individual or group sessions are held by appointment with the Head of the Service, Dr Paola Lancellotti, both in preparation for examinations and throughout the academic year.
The support programme is designed to provide practical tools to:
❯ divide the syllabus into shorter, more manageable sections;
❯ identify essential content through keywords and highlighting;
❯ create concept maps, visual diagrams and personalised summaries;
❯ practise memory and oral presentation using maps and visual aids.
The ultimate aim is to provide students with an independent study method that can also be applied to technical and practical subjects.
A method tailored to the individual
The working method is based on an analysis of the diagnosis, taking into account:
-
verbal comprehension (VCI score)
-
listening and information-retrieval skills
-
visual-perceptual reasoning level (PRI score)
For some students, particularly those with ADHD, deadlines and study schedules are established to support time management.
Guidelines and continuous improvement
The RUFA Guidelines on the Right to Study for Students with SpLD are a dynamic document that is continuously updated and developed through direct student feedback.
RUFA supports each student on a case-by-case basis, with the aim of promoting a fair, effective learning experience that respects individual differences.
