Alias Career

In line with procedures adopted in many countries worldwide, RUFA does not normally require administrative or medical diagnostic documentation to activate an alias academic record.

The aim is to safeguard the fullest expression of individual freedom while respecting the person. Pending a consistent global regulatory framework, RUFA reserves the right to request such documentation where necessary.

An alias academic record may be requested by anyone who has begun a gender transition process, at any time after enrolment.

Once activated, the chosen identity will be used in the following internal documents:

1. a dedicated academic record booklet;

2. attendance sheets and lists;

3. documents used to record examinations.

It is essential to:

• notify RUFA in advance of the intention to take part in activities with external relevance , such as internships, international mobility or scholarships, agreeing with the administrative tutor on the conditions and limits for using the chosen identity;

• promptly inform RUFA of any change affecting the content or validity of the confidential agreement, particularly in the event of a court ruling amending the legally recognised sex and name.

Please note that:

• certificates issued for external use will refer exclusively to the legally recognised identity;
• RUFA will not issue statements or certificates relating to the alias academic record;
• should the final qualification be awarded before the court ruling, all official documents and the Diploma certificate will display the legally recognised personal details.

In all cases, RUFA – Rome University of Fine Arts will assess each situation
on a case-by-case basis, with the aim of ensuring an academic journey that is appropriate,
inclusive and respectful of the individual.
