The 4 dimension of 3D

The aim of the thesis was to combine the psychological and aesthetic aspects of a character. When thinking about character design, the usual goal is often to focus solely on visual appearance. However, for the audience to feel a connection with the character, there must be something they can relate to. The character must therefore appear believable to the viewer and have fears, joys, hopes and desires.
Through modelling, the idea is effectively brought to life. The process begins with the interpretation of two-dimensional shapes, identifying the characters according to one of three basic forms: triangle, square and circle. Using the various sheets created previously, the character is then modelled by extruding it into 3D, paying particular attention to the placement of loops, or rings of polygons, in certain parts of the mesh in order to facilitate the animation process.
In conclusion, the key to creating a successful character is establishing a connection with the viewer. Making someone feel empathy for a small lamp is something extraordinary, but it can only be achieved by giving the character the most important thing of all: a soul.
