Annual Report 2022
After celebrating the Academy’s 20th anniversary and experiencing the uncertainties, visions and transformations of the COVID period, we now find ourselves at a new beginning. Symbolically, the number seven marks the completion of a sequence, the final link in the cycle of human rhythms (days of the week, colours, notes, etc.).

The Academy has changed: during 2022 it acquired a large new campus, it is continuing to expand in Rome and Milan, and it is welcoming an increasing number of students and international courses.
In keeping with the nature of the publication, the 2022 Annual Report is therefore conceived as a volume dedicated to self-analysis. Where are we? Who are we? How many of us are there, and what roles do we have? How far have we come? How do we interpret creativity today? And society? Where are we going?
To answer these questions, we must first observe, gather data and information, and analyse them. The intention is therefore to develop a visual analysis that incorporates both quantitative and qualitative data, as well as human-centred insights that take people into account. Photography, illustration and typography thus become tools for investigation rather than storytelling, for exploration rather than discovery. From there, each reader can draw their own conclusions with greater awareness.

More specifically, as emerged during the meeting on 2 May, the volume is organised as follows: after the sense of disorientation caused by major internal and external changes, it is essential to answer the questions WHO ARE WE? WHERE ARE WE NOW? The answer, taking into account all the different facets that make up the Academy, is QUALITY. We are quality. We are moving towards quality. The new spaces, the new facilities, the new names leading the organisation, everything that has remained the same and/or changed must be told with courage and completeness through a WARM narrative (in the introduction, pre-section covers and events), to be contrasted with the NEUTRAL data that trace the path RUFA has taken over these seven years, namely since the ANNUAL REPORT was first introduced.
