Annual Report 2020 – 2021
The volume, which opens with a sixteen-page section featuring images of projects focused on the pandemic, is divided into seven sections, plus an insert dedicated to the RUFA Contest in progress. The graphic, photographic and illustrative choices are intended as a compensatory response to the horror vacui generated by the pandemic and evoke the devices and physical or digital filters that society chose to adopt as tools to contain the spread of infection. The variety and saturation of the colour palette act as a form of artistic compensation: with human, relational and vital warmth diminished, we restore and compensate for it through colour.
The photographic project featured in the opening pages presents portraits in which people holding senior positions within the Academy interact, symbolically and often playfully, with a physical Plexiglas screen commonly used across the Academy’s premises.
The illustration project opening each course of study pays tribute to the great international figures who passed away during the two-year period, leaving behind works that represent an invaluable legacy for today’s students and creative professionals.
La scelta del carattere tipografico, che integra all’interno del set stilistico molte emoji, il tipo di composizione tipografica e di layout rimandano in maniera diretta ai modi e prassi dei dispositivi digitali, ai quali siamo stati e siamo sovraesposti ogni giorno.
The choice of typeface, which incorporates numerous emojis into its stylistic set, together with the typographic composition and layout, directly refers to the conventions and practices of digital devices, to which we have been and continue to be overexposed every day.
