The Board of Directors:
(a) defines the Academy’s strategic development guidelines, establishes the objectives and programmes of administrative management and promotes initiatives aimed at strengthening the Academy’s financial resources;
(b) proposes any amendments and approves the Statute and the management and organisational regulations;
(c) ratifies the General Academic Regulations, upon proposal by the Academic Council;
(d) appoints the Director;
(e) defines, in implementation of the policy plan referred to in Article 8, paragraph 3, letter a) of Presidential Decree 132/2003, the planning of the Academy’s financial management;
(f) approves the budget, any related amendments and the final accounts;
(g) defines, within the limits of the available budget and upon proposal by the Academic Council, the staffing levels of teaching personnel for academic and research activities, as well as non-teaching personnel;
(h) oversees the preservation and enhancement of the Academy’s property and assets, taking into account the teaching, scientific and research requirements arising from the policy plan established by the Academic Council.

The Academic Council consists of an odd number of members, proportionate to the organisational and financial size of the institution.
In addition to the Director, who chairs it, the Academic Council includes:

• Lecturers of the institution elected by the teaching staff;
• Two students appointed by the Student Council.

It establishes the policy plan and the programming of teaching, scientific, artistic and research activities, taking into account the budget available for the relevant financial year.

The Evaluation Committee of the RUFA Academy is a mandatory body of the Institution pursuant to Article 4, paragraph 1, letter f) of the regulation establishing the criteria for the statutory, regulatory and organisational autonomy of artistic and musical institutions, issued by Presidential Decree of 28 February 2003, No. 132, and incorporated into the Academy’s Statute of Autonomy under Article 13, reproduced below:

– 13.1 The Evaluation Committee, established by resolution of the Board of Directors and the Academic Council, consists of three members with different areas of expertise, the majority of whom are external, with qualifications in the field of evaluation. They are selected in accordance with the guidelines defined by the Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes (ANVUR), pursuant to Article 1, paragraph 645 of Law No. 205/2017, as subsequently amended and supplemented. The three members remain in office for three years and may be reappointed consecutively only once.

– 13.2 The Evaluation Committee verifies that results correspond to the objectives; in particular:
(a) it evaluates the results of teaching and artistic activities and the overall functioning of the Academy, including through comparative analyses of costs and performance, in order to verify the optimal use of resources;
(b) it prepares an annual report on the Academy’s activities and operation, based on criteria established by ANVUR; by 31 March each year, the report is submitted both to the Ministry of Universities and Research and to ANVUR, and serves as the reference framework for the allocation of financial contributions by the Ministry;
(c) it periodically collects students’ opinions on teaching activities, while preserving their anonymity, and reports on them in the annual report referred to in letter (b).

– 13.3 In compliance with privacy legislation, the Academy guarantees the Evaluation Committee operational autonomy, the right of access to the necessary data and information, and the publication and dissemination of its acts.

– 13.4 The Academy adopts an internal evaluation system for teaching and research activities, measures supporting the right to study and administrative management, in accordance with the procedures of the UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 Quality System and current ministerial regulations.

What is the Student Council?

The Student Council is the elected representative body of the students and consists of three elected members, as provided for by the RUFA Statute. The Council appoints the student representatives to the Academic Council. In addition to expressing the opinions required by the Statute and regulations, it may submit requests and proposals to the Academic Council, particularly concerning the organisation of teaching and student services. It also promotes integration and communication among students, including through the organisation of para-institutional activities, events and student initiatives, preparing calls and regulations governing them where necessary. The Student Council remains in office for three consecutive years.
