Artistic expression as a means of communication more effective than words – Laura Arcangeli
Augmented skateboarding

An audiovisual performance in which the movement of a skateboard equipped with a sensor becomes not only an action in space and time, but also a flow of digital data that can be creatively shaped into generative visuals. The skater takes part in this type of artistic situation by controlling the video in real time through movements and tricks performed on the skateboard. In this way, an original combination is established between the practice of skateboarding and visual art. A dual scene is created: the sporting and movement-based performance becomes part of the artistic one.
By extending the predetermined use of the skateboard through the sensor, a lifestyle is amplified, demonstrating that art today, with the help of new technologies, can explore new spaces and establish relationships with practices and activities that are traditionally unrelated to it.
