Game Day: RUFA students at Romaeuropa Festival

Four original video games and an interactive video installation created by RUFA students on show at the Mattatoio in Rome for Ultra Club: Game Day.

On Sunday 27 September, from 2:00 pm, RUFA students from the Multimedia and Game Art degree programme and the Master of Arts in Multimedia Design and Creative AI will take part in Romaeuropa Festival 2026 as part of Ultra Club: Game Day, a day dedicated to the encounter between video games, performing arts and contemporary digital languages.

At Mattatoio di Roma, audiences will be able to discover four original video games developed by four Multimedia and Game Art teams, as well as an interactive video installation created by two Multimedia Design and Creative AI students, through presentations, trailers, gameplay videos, virtual reality and interactive experiences.

Ultra Club: Game Day explores video games not only as a form of entertainment, but also as a creative space and a language capable of interpreting the present.

Interactive simulations, live performances, workshops, talks and showcases come together in a multidisciplinary programme where contemporary artistic practices and digital culture meet, involving artists, collectives, researchers and independent organisations.

RUFA’s participation contributes to this context through projects developed by students of Multimedia and Game Art, a programme that combines visual research, design, 3D modelling and animation, game design, development and interactive technologies. Coordinated by lecturer and tutor Raffaele Vella, RUFA’s presence gives students the opportunity to engage directly with the public and present their work within one of the leading international festivals dedicated to contemporary creation.

The projects will be presented by RUFA students Ionut Danila, Edoardo Maria Borgese, Emanuele Guerrini and Giorgio Ubaldi, creators of De Itinere Giorgiorum; Damiano Cerantonio, Elena de Renzis di Montanaro, Elisabetta Elena Bovari and Emily Castlunger, with BeepBoop Rebooted; Sofia Musso, Sho Takeda, Giulio Tavecchia and Alessia Troiano, with Steelbound; and Elisa Pellegrini, Maria Claudia Pagnozzi, Pierandrea Signorazzi and Elena Villani, with Maid To Die.

RUFA’s participation also includes Angela D’Onghia and Simona Vacca, students on the Master of Arts programme in Multimedia Design and Creative AI, who will present RESPAWN – Continuing without operator, an interactive video installation that uses the language of video games to reflect on death, absence and the possibility of observing a simulated world continuing to evolve even when the player can no longer intervene.

In the project, the player gradually loses all possibility of interaction and becomes a spectator of a system that continues to transform autonomously, questioning the idea that the individual must necessarily remain at the centre of the world they inhabit.
