Fashion Persona – Movie Night & Popcorn

Cinema, Film Arts, Sustainable Fashion Design

FASHION PERSONA is a multimedia event reflecting on the cultural, social and environmental impact of contemporary fashion. An evening combining cinema, fashion and sustainability.

The screening of the short movie FASHION PERSONA stems from a transdisciplinary collaboration between students from different departments: Sustainable Fashion Design, Cinema and Film Arts, Computer Animation and Visual Effects. A powerful visual narrative that introduces a new inspirational figure: the Fashion Persona. An invitation to see fashion as a space for freedom, creativity and connection, rather than as an object to be consumed.

The garments featured in the short film are the result of the work of Mattia Siciliano, Ilenia Genchi, Rosita Pignataro, Erika Tripoli, Margherita Beritognolo, Ayza Baiyshbekova, Sezim Keneshbekova, Antonio Tedeschi, Francesco Caruccio, Giulia De Luca and Gabriele Salzone, Sara Venturi.

During the event, visitors were also able to explore the MANIFESTO BLANCO exhibition, featuring statement outfits created by first-year Sustainable Fashion Design students. The inspiration begins with Lucio Fontana’s famous Manifesto Blanco and is conceptually connected to Virgil Abloh’s vision, for a form of fashion that lives in the present and engages with major global challenges.
One garment is designed from scratch, one is the result of upcycling and one is made using knitwear. The entire outfit is inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals and created with great attention to the choice of materials, waste reduction, cutting and fabric manipulation.
Heartfelt thanks go to Berto, RUFA partner, for providing the fabrics with which the students were able to work and experiment. A valuable collaboration that made a tangible contribution to the success of the project and to the quality of the garments presented.

Congratulations to the entire team of talented filmmakers and designers involved:

A unique programme in Italy – Sustainable Fashion Design

RUFA’s three-year programme is the first in Italy to offer a transdisciplinary approach based on integral ecology, aimed at rethinking the entire fashion system supply chain. It trains designers capable of combining creativity and technical skills with a critical and responsible vision of the sector, promoting inclusion, circularity and genuine sustainability.
