Napoli eterna | terza residenza

“Napoli Eterna” is a sensory journey that explores the deepest soul of Naples, a city suspended between past and future, where light and shadow, joy and melancholy, tradition and modernity coexist in an ongoing dialogue.

In the multidisciplinary performance, musical reinterpretations of the repertoire of Roberto De Simone and Salvatore Di Giacomo combine with dance, poetry, visual art, ancient sounds and electronic music to trace the city’s journey, telling the story of the indelible marks left by its historical dominations – Arab, Spanish and French – through to a futuristic vision.

The artistic cast, made up of thirteen students selected from among the best students of the most prestigious institutions of higher artistic and musical education (three of whom come from the “Pôle Supérieur Paris Boulogne-Billancourt”), spent fifteen days at
the “La Base” centre in the city of Milan.

Here, starting from the initial idea of singer Gabriella Di Capua, musical arrangements, choreography and video projections were created from scratch, culminating in a performance that not only celebrates the city of Naples, but reinvents it, projecting it into the future.

“Napoli Eterna” is part of “Playing Memories”, a project by the Saint Louis College of Music, in co-production with Conservatorio Alfredo Casella di L’Aquila, Fondazione Accademia d’Arti e Mestieri dello spettacolo Teatro alla Scala di Milano, RUFA, ISIA di Roma.
