Alessio Cimato.

Light connects us with the outside world more directly than any other means of conveying information. It is our richest and most complete tool for investigation and knowledge.”
– Andrea Frova

An Interior and Lighting Designer, he develops his design research around the relationship between form, light and perception, considering light a fundamental tool for interpreting and transforming space.

In 2020, he completed a First-Level University Master’s Degree in Lighting Design at Sapienza University of Rome, where he had also worked as a classroom tutor in 2018, collaborating with leading professionals in the field. In 2017, he obtained a First-Level Academic Diploma in Design from RUFA – Rome University of Fine Arts.

Since 2017, he has collaborated with several Rome-based studios, working across architectural design, interior design and lighting design. These experiences have enabled him to engage with different project scales and methodologies, consolidating an approach in which light, space and perception are closely interconnected.

Since 2019, he has overseen the communication activities of the Master’s programme in Lighting Design at Sapienza University of Rome and curated the cultural series “High Light In”. In 2017, he also took part in a design workshop with internationally renowned light artist Yann Kersalé.

His previous experience also includes collaborating on the stage design for the productions “Terzo Tempo”, presented at Teatro Sala Uno in Rome, and “Terapia di gruppo”, staged at Teatro Trastevere.
