Marco Gazzola, architect (Udine, 1984), specialises in urban-scale design and the design of complex buildings, with a particular focus on sustainability.
After completing a Master’s Degree in Architecture for Sustainability at IUAV University of Venice, he moved to the Netherlands in 2010, where he worked until 2020 with internationally renowned architectural practices, including MVRDV. During this period, he developed highly conceptual and innovative projects at a range of scales across Europe, China and Southeast Asia, engaging with complex cultural contexts and the specific challenges involved in their interpretation, contextualisation and architectural communication.
Since 2022, he has been working with MCA – Mario Cucinella Architects in Milan, where he holds the position of Project Director. His work focuses primarily on the regeneration and development of large urban areas in major Italian and European cities. In parallel, he contributes to research projects exploring public space and contemporary living, which frequently require working across different scales, from urban design to architecture. His role includes coordinating interdisciplinary teams of consultants and developing integrated design strategies.
In Milan, he also teaches and contributes to public and academic discourse at universities and academies, both public and private.
