Omaggio a Robert Redford. Immagine Musica e Film

A project bridging visual and performing arts to celebrate an icon of American cinema. The exhibition and film series feature the close collaboration of our Academy, with the curation of the video section entrusted to lecturer and film historian Raffaele Simongini.

From December 18, 2025, to March 15, 2026, the Casa Museo Boncompagni Ludovisi opens its doors to «Homage to Robert Redford. Image, Music, and Film», a cultural project celebrating the American cinema icon by intertwining visual arts, fashion, and performance.

The RUFA Contribution: The Auteur Film Series

A cornerstone of the event is the film series that will accompany the exhibition from January to March 2026. The selection of films and the critical introduction are entrusted to Raffaele Simongini, film historian and RUFA lecturer. The path curated by Prof. Simongini will analyze how Redford’s films represented a «break» from the past, introducing new forms of representation: from the rewriting of the Western genre in Butch Cassidy to the birth of investigative cinema with All the President’s Men. An educational opportunity for our students to understand how cinema can shape the aesthetics and ethics of an era.

The Exhibition: Style and Costume

The exhibition, curated by Maria Giuseppina Di Monte and Martina Casadio, explores the figure of Robert Redford not only as an actor but as an involuntary trendsetter. Through garments from the historic Sartoria Farani and photographs from the Getty archive, the exhibition retraces the elegance of the 70s: from the urban casual of Three Days of the Condor to the roaring atmosphere of The Great Gatsby, up to the landscapes of Out of Africa. A journey demonstrating how cinema is a powerful incubator of lifestyles.
