DISTANT INVENTIONS

The exhibition DISTANT INVENTIONS invites to engage with moments of recollection. Echoing Walter Benjamin’s reflections, the essence of things has withdrawn into elusive realms. Nicolas Pallavicini and Emiliano Coletta explore the forms these things can assume when viewed through the distancing lens of memory—an artistic dialogue between painting and sculpture.
For Nicolas Pallavicini, born in 1976 in Buenos Aires, landscape serves as a central motif—one that he stages as a metaphor for the heightened disorientation experienced by the contemporary viewer. In his large-scale canvases, Pallavicini deconstructs vistas into fragmented elements, disassembles horizons, and employs abstraction and collage. to ultimately achieve a remarkably cohesive synthesis of detail. His compositions oscillate between spatial depth and surface brilliance. Employing a technique of his own invention, he removes segments of the painted surface like transfers, exposing the raw canvas beneath. In doing so, he confronts the viewer with the constructed nature of illusion in painting, using the medium itself to evoke awareness of the ephemeral, the authentic, and the deceptive.
Emiliano Coletta, RUFA lectirer, born 1974 in Rome, works primarily in sculpture, a medium through which he conveys individual emotional experience and complex poetic, philosophical, and socio-critical ideas. In Munich, we present a compelling range of his ceramic works—conceptual yet corporeal—created through a physically intense process involving forceful, sometimes aggressive gestures. Clay is shaped, thrown, pinched, and modeled into sculptural entities marked by a dynamic tension between architectural grounding and expressively charged torsos and heads.
His Bagatelle series originated from unfinished student works, which he transformed, imbuing them with new, completed identities. Coletta’s experimental use of vivid glazes and subtle chromatic nuances intensifies both the expressive power and the sculptural tactility of his pieces. For the exhibition DISTANT INVENTIONS, Coletta immersed himself in the literary world of Dada artists Hugo Ball and his companion Emmy Hennings, drawing on their diaries and poetry. Their escapist and anarchic visions resonate throughout his sculptures—consciously echoed within our present moment, shaped by the specter of war and the absurd theater of global politics.
RUFA: arte, ricerca e Intelligenza Artificiale
All’interno del progetto, gli studenti RUFA sono stati chiamati a trasformare i risultati della ricerca in opere d’arte contemporanea attraverso linguaggi digitali e strumenti di Intelligenza Artificiale, con l’obiettivo di rendere visibili esperienze personali spesso poco raccontate.
RUFA ha avuto un ruolo attivo nell’intero percorso, occupandosi della formazione degli studenti, della supervisione artistica delle opere e dell’allestimento della mostra finale, confermando il proprio impegno nell’integrare le Health Humanities all’interno della formazione artistica contemporanea.
Le opere sono state valutate da una giuria di esperti secondo criteri di innovazione, qualità artistica, efficacia comunicativa e aderenza ai risultati della ricerca.
Le artiste protagoniste del progetto
Raquel Nache López, vincitrice del progetto con Giulia’s Room, artista multimediale che esplora il rapporto tra esperienza umana, nuove tecnologie e Intelligenza Artificiale.
Rūta Valantiejutė, con CARRY, artista visiva lituana la cui ricerca intreccia natura, spiritualità, memoria ed empatia.
Leila Tanhaei, con Home, Sweet Home!, pittrice e artista multidisciplinare iraniana che indaga identità culturale, resilienza e condizione umana.
Jasmijn Doukje Plantinga, con Forget Us Not, artista olandese che sviluppa una ricerca sul ritratto, il simbolismo e la memoria attraverso la pittura.
Lucrezia Della Balda, con Scheda Madre, artista impegnata sui temi dell’attivismo e della ricerca visiva contemporanea.
Nino Skhirtladze, con 102, artista georgiana che unisce letteratura, cinema e arti visive nella propria pratica.
Le opere sono state inizialmente presentate presso Fondazione Pastificio Cerere e successivamente esposte anche negli spazi RUFA in occasione della Rome Art Week, contribuendo a sensibilizzare il pubblico su un fenomeno ancora poco conosciuto ma di grande rilevanza sociale.
Il Premio CULTURA + IMPRESA
Giunto alla tredicesima edizione, il Premio CULTURA + IMPRESA rappresenta il principale riconoscimento italiano dedicato ai progetti che promuovono il dialogo tra cultura, imprese e istituzioni. Promosso dal Comitato CULTURA + IMPRESA, fondato da Federculture e The Round Table, il premio coinvolge ogni anno una giuria composta da professionisti del settore culturale, della comunicazione e dell’impresa.
Nel corso dell’edizione 2025-2026 sono stati inoltre assegnati i Premi di Categoria ai progetti INCINEMA OUTSIDE, MAUGERI IN ARTE e MUSEO TRA LE MURA, oltre a numerose Menzioni Speciali dedicate ai progetti più innovativi nel rapporto tra cultura e impresa.
