From 23 to 25 October 2026, Rachele Cominella, Angela D’Onghia, Cor Langerak, Lorenzo Tomassucci, Simona Vacca and Marta Zorzan will present a selection of works exploring some of the tensions shaping contemporary visual culture today.
Images no longer simply represent the world; they actively contribute to the construction of imaginaries, narratives and shared forms of experience. In a visual landscape increasingly shaped by algorithms and artificial intelligence systems, they become spaces of encounter — and often of confrontation — between the human gaze and automation.
Through the language of the video essay, the students investigate the relationship between image, technology and society, examining how transformations in visual language reflect the social, cultural and political dynamics of our time while also helping to reshape them.
The works presented in Decoding Images therefore open up a reflection on the increasingly fluid boundaries between reality, representation, simulation and imagination, questioning the ways in which images are produced, interpreted and shared.
The screenings will be accompanied by an in-depth talk on Saturday 24 October at 8:30 pm, offering an opportunity to further explore the themes of the showcase and the work developed by the students.
