Centonove: il segreto degli oceani

The project celebrating the cult of the sea was born from the desire to redevelop and enhance a stretch of the Apulian coast south of Bari.
The renovation focused, in particular, on the building – together with its surrounding area – of the former State Police Beach Club, which remained abandoned after forty years of activity. The seaside facility covers a total area of 3,470 square metres, of which 424 are occupied by the architectural structure.

Inspired by Mediterranean tradition and by the different cultures that have inhabited the area over time, Bahja is a Beach Club characterised by natural tones, warm and enveloping textures and sustainable materials, all surrounded by an unspoilt blue sea and tropical plants, blending into a sophisticated and refined style that perfectly embraces the local archetype.

Aspiring to be an oasis in the desert, the project develops a respectful and minimalist approach, conceptualising a logic that considers and preserves the surrounding nature and local traditions. It draws strength from the separation between the natural, rugged context of the cliffs and the systematic independence of the architectural structure, thus creating a design experience that celebrates the cult of the beach.
