“Sputnik” is a Russian word that translates into English as travelling companion. The concept behind the book was developed from its name. Sputnik is a collection of moments unfolding through the streets of San Lorenzo in search of the common thread connecting the traces of the past and the future. This “journey” through time is narrated through the voice of Sputnik, a solitary and sensitive little robot sent from far away, who finds himself experiencing the history of the people of San Lorenzo. It was inevitable: immersed in the district’s warm atmosphere, the little robot immediately became part of the community’s life, learning the meaning of solidarity and resistance. Through its colour palette, fonts and grids, the book’s visual style was designed to reflect the political soul of San Lorenzo.
