These are the women of Rome who made the history of the capital, the true protagonists of a city where every corner evokes legendary figures and ancient myths. A city that breathes art through every pore and that has been inhabited and experienced by actresses, artists, saints and writers whose talent helped place the city of the seven hills at the centre of the world. Every week, a new issue of Victoria dedicated to stories about women and for women, set in a different district of the capital. For this first issue of the magazine, we chose San Lorenzo to introduce readers to a side of this small yet, at the same time, remarkable district that not everyone knows. It is one of those ancient souls that carries with it a suitcase full of traces from the past, almost as though it were urging everyone to look beyond the appearance that dominates its streets. It is usually seen as a run-down district, populated by young people and immigrants, but we assure you that it is much more than that. It is a district that is fully lived every day and has a rich history represented by extraordinary women, such as Montessori, who developed her own teaching method, now famous throughout the world; women who sparked a revolution by creating a movement and making history, and thanks to whom we can now enjoy rights that belong to us and that were once very easily denied. In addition to this, the district is also inhabited by modern women of our time who never give up and fight every day to defend their ideas.
