Alice Papi was born in Rome in 1997. After graduating from Archimede scientific high school, in 2016 she began studying Mechanical Engineering at Sapienza University. In 2019 she embarked on a new course of study at RUFA Rome University of Fine Arts, enrolling in the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Painting.
My work unfolds from reality itself, from the definition of space, its geometries, and the invisible architecture of the canvas, a space in which transparency finds legitimacy as a signifier. My interest is focused on lines understood as a search for fractures in reality, moments of separation and liminal zones. Landscapes, like bodies, are investigated in order to discover the boundaries beyond which they cease to exist, where everything is interrupted and nothingness, absence, takes over, and where everything becomes possible in perception.
