Computer animation and Visual effect
Cassandra Toti.

Born in Alatri and raised in Frosinone, from an early age I showed a strong interest in art, with my mother as my first teacher.
From there came hundreds of drawings created using any tool I could find, until I got my first pc in 2000, where my tools were paint and a mouse.
Over the years I continued studying, attending an Art High School and later the Academy of Fine Arts, where I decided to undertake an erasmus experience. I left for Wroclaw(Poland), where I discovered what CGI was and, once back in Italy, I could not avoid pursuing a specialisation, so I enrolled at RUFA where I understood what my path would be: modelling.
Considered by many to be boring and simple, yet at the basis of every form, behind every moved vertex there is careful visual study.
Thanks to the dedication I have given to this field, today I work as a modeller in one of the largest Italian CGI companies, creating models for children’s TV series produced by Disney.

The 4 dimensions of 3D

The aim of the thesis was to combine the psychological factor with the aesthetic one of a character .When thinking about character design, the common objective is usually to focus only on the visual aspect, but in order for the audience to feel a connection with the character, there must be something they can relate to; the character must therefore appear believable in the eyes of the viewer, have fears, joys, hope, desires.
Through modelling, the idea is effectively brought to life. We then move on to reading shapes in 2d, identifying the characters in one of the three basic shapes, triangle, square and circle. until, through the various sheets created previously, reaching the modelling of the character by extruding it into 3D, paying particular attention to the arrangement of loops (rings of polygons) in certain parts of the mesh, thereby facilitating the animation process.
In conclusion, what is important for creating a good character is establishing a connection with the viewer. Making someone feel empathy for a baby lamp is something extraordinary, but it can only be achieved by giving our character the most important thing of all, a soul.
