After studying languages in high school, I pursued my dream of studying Set Design. Cinema and theatre have always fascinated me. After being taught by various lecturers at RUFA, including Alessandro Vergoz, Stefania Conti and Alessandro Cremisini, during my third year at university I had the opportunity to undertake an internship at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma in the construction and logistics department under the guidance of Enrico Sasso and Alessandro Nico. This experience taught me a great deal and also made me fall in love with Opera. I had to interrupt the internship to focus on my Bachelor’s thesis. I would have gladly continued along that path but, due to a strange turn of events, after some experience as a draughtsperson in set design studios, I joined a film production as a Runner, before becoming an assistant set designer on the Sky TV series, Devils. This was the opportunity that helped me grow. On this series I met experienced people who helped me and who still teach me the profession today. After working on the film “Odio l’Estate” by Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo as an Assistant Set Designer, I continued in this role on other projects such as commercials for Ferragamo, Valentino, Roger Vivier and, more recently, the Rai film “Carosone”. I then decided to leave for Canada to pursue this profession on the other side of the Ocean. Because of covid I had to return, hoping to go back. I am still continuing to grow and learn from the masters of this backstage profession. I hope to work in this field for a long time. It is a job that makes you dream every. single. day.
Into a portkey. Theatre set design for “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”
A hugely successful saga known throughout the world, which, from novels to films, has reinvented the fantasy imagination of millions of children. British culture and mythology, the meaning of colours and geometry, numerology and alchemy are all elements that have contributed to building the Harry Potter stories. The aim of the thesis is therefore to bring this highly distinctive world to the stage, creating a fantastic environment through the invention of a unique set design mechanism with a strong visual impact,
in which the extraordinary harmony between the audience and the stage is not interrupted by the closing of the curtain. There are seven main themed scenes.
