Federica Di Pietrantonio was born in Rome in 1996, where she currently lives and works. She studied Painting at RUFA – Rome University of Fine Arts, graduating in 2019, and carried out her thesis research spending free time at KASK (Ghent, Belgium), where she developed the project Vacation Spot. In 2017 she was selected for Mediterranea 18 Young Artists Biennale and the following year she joined Spazio In Situ, where she works as an artist and web designer. She has exhibited in several spaces including Las Palmas (Lisbon), Gouvernement (Ghent), Una Vetrina (Rome) and The Gallery Apart (Rome). In 2018 she began collaborating with Andrea Frosolini, giving rise to the projects ISIT.magazine (an independent online/offline editorial project), Webby Agency (a Web Agency focused on the design and creation of web services for artists and art professionals) and the artistic duo AFFDP. In 2020 she joined The Gallery Apart and was named best young artist by Artribune. Her research focuses on relationships, connections and processes that develop from simulated or virtual realities and social platforms.
Spending free time
Spending free time is a collection of notes, annotations, thoughts, reflections, observations, doubts, enthusiasm, ideas, disappointments and questions, the result of my last three years of study. Trying not to take anything for granted, I have continuously asked myself what kind of world we live in, what the role of an artist can be today and what form spaces for contemporary art have or can take. I have had the opportunity to engage with the artistic environment of the city of Rome, occasionally to take a look at what happens in northern Italy and, more recently, I have had the great fortune of being able to stay in the city of Ghent, Belgium.
Virtual reality and the digital world are the platform around which my research revolves.
