Respiro, lo steadicam e la realtà

The trick lies in the perfect balance of the camera and the spring-loaded arm that separates the movement of the body from that of the camera.

The operator can run and the camera floats through the air as though it were suspended from above by a spring. This morning I saw a reel from a Haskel film in which the operator is sitting on a crane, then the crane lowers to the ground and the operator steps down from the platform and begins to walk; no cut. This technique saves a great deal of money and time by avoiding the use of tracks, and above all it allows you to make, and conceive, shots that you otherwise would not even have been able to imagine.
