Gabriele Biasi, who graduated with top marks from Rome University of Fine Arts, completed his post-graduate internship at Head-Trip (Cologne), a Virtual Reality production company, where he then worked for some time. He is a member of EDFVR e V., a German association bringing together all VR professionals. He is one of the founding partners of Threeab srls.
He has taken part in several artistic residencies, including MACMA – dallo sviluppo al pitching and Innsbruck Film Campus, which brings together 10 artists from across Europe every year. His diploma documentary, LE CRISALIDI, is currently being distributed by GARGANTUA DISTRIBUTION (distributors of “EVA”, presented at SiC during the 78th Venice Film Festival). He is currently filming the experimental documentary AI Oracle: Lithium, as part of the AI Oracle art installation, funded by Goethe Institut Australia. He is one of the creators of the online museum Archivio d’Anime” funded by Regione Lazio through the Vitamina G call.

The diploma documentary LE CRISALIDI, an autobiographical account of Gabriele Biasi’s family, is the starting point for a reflection on reality and memory, autobiography and truth.
The documentary film should no longer be understood as a passive gaze upon reality, but as a universal and creative tool for showing a reality, one’s own, that otherwise would never have been seen. Just like fiction cinema, which creates a narrative through images, documentary cinema, and autobiographical documentary in particular, does exactly this: starting from memories that are in fact sparse, confused and inconsistent, it traces a narrative using new means; the experimental possibilities within autobiographical documentary become infinite, breaking patterns that in fiction are often difficult to overcome. Is there perhaps a difference between what is true and my memory?
