My name is Ludovica Messina, I was born in Rome on 6 August 1997.
I am not a superstitious person, nor do I believe in zodiac signs, horoscopes or too many coincidences, but I was born in August, under the sign of Leo, and everyone knows that in the savannah the lion is the undisputed king.
I have always tried to live my life seeking to belong to a pride, until I realised that in order to be a lion I first had to conquer my own “Pride Rock”.
After a turbulent path of classical studies at the Liceo Classico Giulio Cesare in Rome, choosing a university was an important hurdle: studying and the desire to learn and discover new things were fundamental in helping me understand which direction to take, and in the end it turned out to be the right one.
Set Design was a revelation, the combination of passions I had pursued in my personal life that finally found a way to be expressed.
Today I cannot say that this “rock” is my definitive place in the world, but I can certainly say that the view from here is magnificent, and no boundary line can be seen.
L’Altra Faccia della Medusa
L’Altra Faccia della Medusa is intended as a project that examines the career of fashion designer Gianni Versace, bringing to light its moments of glory, victories and innovations.
Following in the footsteps of events previously organised as tributes to the designer, starting with his sister Donatella Versace herself, the choice to recreate a fashion show takes shape without appearing banal.
Location chosen for the event: Le Castella, Calabria, bringing Gianni Versace back to his homeland was only fitting.
The creation of this project was made possible through in-depth research into new technologies applied to the environment and unique artists’ installations, both in their form and in their particular meaning.
Elegant yet kitsch at the same time, elaborate and simple, a play of symbols between the location and the setdesign will celebrate the bond that the designer always had with culture and the art world, thus making an event that has “already been seen” unique in its kind.
This combination of fashion and setdesign stems from a personal passion for both disciplines, one theoretical and the other design-based, almost as though they complete one another.
Making the impact even more striking is the use of gold, an important hallmark that the Versace brand has carried with it since its origins, and perhaps also somewhat of a legacy of Greek culture.
Gold is wealth, gold is elegance, gold is history, gold is Versace.
