Victor Vespo lives and works in Rome; originally from Sicily, after obtaining a classical studies diploma, he moved to the capital to study Set Design and Costume Design for Performance at the RUFA Academy of Fine Arts, where he graduated in March 2015 with top marks. In April of the same year he began collaborating with fashion designer Vincenzo Caruso at the “Extraordinario” atelier, becoming his right-hand man in the creation of luxury clothing collections presented at Haute Couture events. At the same time, he collaborates as a costume designer with some of the most important organisations in Rome’s nightlife scene and with artists from various disciplines, experimentally using alternative materials. In 2019 he entered the world of retail; combining his two greatest passions, fashion and set design, he began working in Visual Merchandising for H&M group.

In his project, Victor Vespo proposed the set design for Aeschylus’ Oresteia. The choice fell on this Greek tragedy because of the strong dynamism that characterises its scenic structure, due to the different settings of the story, as well as the wide variety of characters. All the characters and all the stories intrinsic to the central architecture of the production express a strong personality and characterisation, and the student wanted to represent them through costumes that made use of different symbolic meanings, starting from their colour, in a play of roles in which the costumes themselves become the true protagonists of the entire scenic structure.
Revisiting the combination of old and new, the staging of the work presents settings reinterpreted through an innovative and personal approach, while placing everything within an extremely classical context, such as the theatre of Syracuse.
