Lucrezia Ceselin, RUFA Photography graduate, wins “Artefici del Nostro Tempo 2025” and exhibits at the Venice Biennale Arte.
An important achievement for Lucrezia Ceselin, former RUFA student in Photography, who has been awarded the first prize in the “Image” category of the national competition Artefici del Nostro Tempo 2025. Promoted by the Mayor of Venice Luigi Brugnaro in collaboration with the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia and other institutional partners, the prize stands out as one of the most significant platforms for young talents in contemporary art in Italy. Now in its sixth edition, the 2025 competition received over 400 submissions from across the country.
Lucrezia will have the honour of exhibiting her work in the prestigious Venice Pavilion at the Giardini della Biennale, as part of the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, taking place from 10 May to 23 November 2025.
At the heart of Lucrezia’s award-winning project, titled “Biomimesi”, lies a powerful visual reflection on the increasingly blurred line between nature and artificiality. The image portrays a GoPro Hero 3+ abandoned and carried by the waters of the Venetian lagoon, transformed by natural elements until it becomes part of the landscape itself. A technological object, stripped of its original function, turns into a contemporary relic, symbolising a possible hybridisation between the environment and human creation.
Venice thus becomes both the backdrop and metaphor for a world in constant transformation, where the city, like the artwork, speaks of adaptation, memory, and change. Ceselin’s work integrates seamlessly into the theme of the group exhibition “Intelligens. Naturale. Artificiale. Collettiva”, dedicated to exploring the relationship between artificial intelligence, the environment, and the collective.
A further recognition of the project’s value: all winning works will become part of the Ca’ Pesaro – International Gallery of Modern Art archive, helping to document the evolution of contemporary artistic language in dialogue with nature and technology. The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 12 at 5:00 PM at the Venice Pavilion in Forte Marghera.
