RUFA Talents for “Drugs 2” on RaiPlay

Francesca Marra and Giovanni Benedetto Matteucci, RUFA Cinema graduates, directed two episodes of the second season of “Drugs”, the docu-series produced by OJ&I MILANO in collaboration with Rai Documentari and available exclusively on RaiPlay.

For the two young directors, this achievement marks an important new professional milestone, following the success of MAMMAMARE, their graduation documentary aired on Rai 5, which had already highlighted their narrative sensitivity and ability to address complex subjects with an authentic perspective.

The series “Drugs”, already praised by audiences in its first edition for its direct and unfiltered approach to the topic of addiction, now returns with a new season: “Drugs 2”. Based on real documentation and testimonies, this second installment further broadens the view on contemporary forms of addiction. Giovanni Benedetto Matteucci directed episode 3, It’s a glitch!, while Francesca Marra helmed episode 8, La luce tranquilla.
The writing of the stories is once again entrusted to Fabio Ilacqua, the project’s showrunner, who has again selected a team of young directors capable of speaking to a younger audience with authenticity, empathy, and impact.

With a direct visual language free of moralism, the series tackles highly relevant issues: eating disorders, cyber sex, the vulnerability of content creators, compulsive dating, workaholism, post-Covid youth isolation, depression, FOMO (fear of missing out), emotional dependency, and the use of chemical substances such as GHB. Each episode gives audiences authentic voices and stories, offering an empathetic look at today’s challenges and vulnerabilities.
