Into the Black: set design by Ilaria Del Nibletto

RUFA Scenography student Ilaria Del Nibletto has conceived and designed the set for the theatre production Into the Black, directed by Christian Angeli, director and RUFA lecturer in History of Theatre. The production was staged at Teatro Tordinona in Rome from 12 to 15 March 2026, as part of the curricular internship included in her academic path at RUFA.

The project represented an important hands-on learning experience for the student, developed in close collaboration with the director and with lighting designer Massimiliano Maggi, RUFA lecturer in Lighting Design.
Into the Black, written by Antonello Toti, draws inspiration from the great era of 1940s American film noir, reinterpreting its atmospheres and tensions through a contemporary theatrical lens.
On stage, two actors: one actress playing two roles and one actor performing five, in a dynamic interplay of identities and perspectives that guides the audience through an intense narrative.

The story

One woman, five men, and a brutal murder. Time moves relentlessly: if she gives up, the man she loves will die. In her desperate search for the truth, she must ask the right questions and face difficult answers, in a journey marked by tension and revelation.
