Sabrina La Macchia wins the “Best University Short Film – powered by Rai Cinema” award at the COMICON Visions Awards. The short film Latte e biscotti, created as part of the RUFA Cinematography Course, was awarded during COMICON as part of the national project Studenti in Corto, promoted by Rai Cinema.
RUFA celebrates an important achievement for Sabrina La Macchia, who graduated in Cinema, whose short film Latte e biscotti won in the category “Best University Short Film – powered by Rai Cinema” as part of the project Studenti in Corto – uno spazio per i talenti del futuro, an editorial and cultural initiative promoted by Rai Cinema to support young filmmakers and emerging languages within the Italian audiovisual scene.
The award was announced during COMICON – International Pop Culture Festival. On the festival’s Main Stage, within the context of the COMICON Visions Awards, Sabrina La Macchia was announced as the winner and received the award alongside Arianna Ippoliti – IED Roma, awarded for the short film Amori Ricamati. Arianna Ippoliti is also a RUFA graduate, from the Visual and Innovation Design course.
The selected short films were assessed by a jury of content creators composed of Slim Dogs, ArteSettima and Eva Carducci, who were invited to identify the most significant works among those presented as part of the Studenti in Corto programme.
Created as part of the RUFA Cinematography Course, Latte e biscotti marks a new milestone in Sabrina La Macchia’s artistic and professional journey, confirming RUFA’s ability to support students in developing a personal authorial vision capable of engaging with major national contexts.
The Studenti in Corto project was launched on the occasion of World Creativity and Innovation Day with the aim of building a bridge between universities, film schools, the audiovisual industry and audiences. Starting from 21 April 2026, Rai Cinema Channel has been hosting a selection of 22 short films created by students from some of Italy’s leading universities and film schools, including RUFA.
COMICON represents only the first stage of a year-long programme designed to accompany and promote the selected short films through events, festivals and cultural initiatives. Among the next visibility opportunities already announced are the Giffoni Film Festival, scheduled from 17 to 25 July 2026, and Rome Future Week, taking place from 21 to 27 September 2026 with a special event at the Casa del Cinema in Rome.

“Latte e Biscotti” reinterprets the tale of Little Red Riding Hood, transforming it into a powerful metaphor to recount an episode of abuse. Reality and fairy tale merge in an intimate narrative, culminating in a single line that symbolises overcoming trauma through art. This gothic fairy tale, with its bittersweet tones, stems from the need to give voice to an unfortunately universal experience that remains all too common, and even normalised, today.
