AT THE ORSINI CASTLE OF SORIANO NEL CIMINO, THE VISUAL ARTS EXHIBITION “LIFE IS A HUM”
From 14 June, the exhibition by Andrea Aquilanti together with students and alumni of RUFA and ABAQ, curated by Serena Achilli.
Soriano nel Cimino is preparing to welcome “Life is a Hum”, a contemporary art exhibition that will open on Sunday 14 June 2026 at 11:00 am in the spaces of the Orsini Castle. The exhibition, curated by Serena Achilli, is organised in collaboration with the Municipality of Soriano nel Cimino, the Azienda Speciale SAM and the La Nuova Pesa gallery in Rome. It features the work of Andrea Aquilanti alongside students and alumni from the RUFA (Rome University of Fine Arts) and ABAQ (Academy of Fine Arts of L’Aquila) academies: Vanshika Agrawal, Giovanni Annunziata, Juan Esteban Bulla Maldonado, Patrizia Cianforlini, Maria Di Loreto, Alessandra Di Mizio, Alexandra Fongaro, Gaia Liberatore, Heather Susanna Roach, Pedro Henrique Simplício, Ellen Wolf, Wang Yuxiang.
The title of the exhibition draws inspiration from “The Ashes of Gramsci” by Pier Paolo Pasolini and develops around the idea of a life made of voices, fragments, perceptions, and memories that emerge from the margins of everyday reality. Through works, installations, and site-specific paths, the artists investigate the relationship between vision, memory, and territory, transforming the “hum” of existence into images, lights, shadows, and movements.
The exhibition route is deeply intertwined with the Tuscia region, a place dear to both Aquilanti and Pasolini. The rooms of the Orsini Castle thus become a space for dialogue between past and present, between personal experience and collective memory, where contemporary art confronts the history and cultural landscape of the area.
“Life is a Hum” also represents a formative and collective experience: Andrea Aquilanti involves young artists with whom he has shared an educational path for years, transforming the exhibition into a workshop for research and discussion. The project is intended as an invitation to listen to what normally remains in the background, those subtle vibrations that continue to narrate life in its most authentic dimension. During the exhibition, side events will also be organised, including performances, meetings dedicated to Pasolini, the local territory, and visual art, as well as the presentation of the catalogue.
The initiative is held under the patronage of the University of Tuscia and the Province of Viterbo, and realised with the contribution of RUFA (Rome University of Fine Arts), ABAQ (Academy of Fine Arts of L’Aquila), ANCE, Confartigianato Imprese Viterbo, Gajarda, CF Sicurezza, MCR, MDM, and Vini Doria. Algoritmo is a brand of the Numerozero ETS association.
The exhibition will remain open to the public until 31 October 2026, with the following opening hours: in June and October, from Friday to Sunday, 10:00 – 19:00. In July, August, and September, from Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00 – 19:00.
Access to the exhibition is included in the entrance ticket to the Orsini Castle (5 Euros)
