Cinema Meets the Future: RUFA, Rai Cinema and Rome Future Week

Cinema meets the future: RUFA, Rai Cinema and Rome Future Week come together for a special event-day of creativity, artificial intelligence and new generations.

In September, as part of the new edition of the Rome Future Week, three different yet deeply connected realities – RUFA – Rome University of Fine Arts, Rai Cinema, Scai Comunicazione – will join forces to create a special initiative dedicated to narrating the future through the language of audiovisual.

On the first day of the event, Monday 15 September, this shared journey will begin: a day open to students, professionals, enthusiasts and the curious, featuring screenings, talks, immersive content and moments of dialogue – all celebrating the transformative power of cinema, the opportunities offered by technology, and the energy of the new generations.
During the event, RUFA students will present short films inspired by the creative universe of Federico Fellini, developed within the educational project Festival Fellini, under the artistic direction of lecturer Raffaele Simongini, film critic and historian. The project involved professors, directors and industry professionals, with the goal of rediscovering Fellini’s genius as a source of inspiration for young people growing up in the digital age – surrounded by social media and artificial intelligence – by creating short films and documentaries that evoke his unique atmosphere or experiment with the most innovative technologies, from computer animation to artificial intelligence, to explore new forms of storytelling.

The symbolic heart of the day will be the official launch of CORTI FUTURI, a creative contest running throughout the Rome Future Week.
Designed for young people under 30, the contest will invite filmmakers, storytellers and content creators to produce – in just a few days – an original short film inspired by the theme of the future and its transformations.
Each day, participants will receive “signals” from the city: visual cues, events, locations and impressions drawn from the week’s programme. The most outstanding works will be evaluated by a panel of experts, and the winning short will be featured on Rai Cinema Channel, gaining access to a national visibility network.

With this joint initiative, Rome Future Week renews its mission to transform the city into a living lab of ideas, experimentation and connections; RUFA confirms its role as an incubator of talent and contemporary languages; Rai Cinema opens a privileged window onto the new ways of making and experiencing cinema; while Scai Comunicazione, under the expert guidance of Andrea Martelli, reaffirms its role as a creative director and driving force behind high-impact cultural projects.

It will be a week for thinking, creating, imagining.
Above all, it will be a chance to prove that the future is still full of stories we can tell together.
