NO OTHER LAND - TALK

NO OTHER LAND – Cinema and Documentary in Palestinian History

RUFA continues the 2025/2026 Talk series with a meeting dedicated to cinema as a tool for memory, resistance, and collective identity.
The talk No Other Land – Cinema and Documentary in Palestinian History, curated by Mariangela Barbanente and conducted by Luca Satulli, offers a journey through Palestinian cinema by analysing No Other Land (2024), the Academy Award-winning documentary directed by Basel Adra, Yuval Abraham, Hamdan Ballal, and Rachel Szor.
Starting from the film—which on March 2, 2025, brought the Palestinian cause to the stage of the Dolby Theatre—the talk will explore the relationship between art and activism, the construction of identity narratives, and the distance from the Western canon, offering a broader reflection on the expressive and political value of Palestinian cinema.
An opportunity to discover a cinematic heritage too often overlooked, capable of portraying humanity and art as a bridge toward possible coexistence.

Luca Satulli

Born in 1999, he moved from Viterbo to Rome to study Communication Sciences at Roma Tre University, where he graduated with the thesis “Musical-visual counterpoint: when the wrong music in a film is the right one.” He later earned a Master’s degree in Film Arts at RUFA. He works across various artistic fields—from theatre to cinema, videomaking, and photography—and currently teaches theatre in primary and middle schools.
