Homage to Fellini, the genius who speaks to new generations

The Italian Cultural Institute in Prague (IIC) is pleased to announce two special events dedicated to Federico Fellini, the unforgettable master of Italian cinema—one of the most visionary and influential directors in the history of the seventh art—taking place on June 12 and 13 in the IIC Screening Room.

More than 30 years after his passing, Fellini’s creative genius and extraordinary ability to blend reality and imagination continue to captivate audiences and inspire new generations of filmmakers worldwide. The evenings of June 12 and 13 in Prague will offer the opportunity to explore Fellini’s dreamlike and visionary world through the screening of 8½ short films and two previously unreleased documentaries, created through collaborations between established directors and emerging talents from the Italian film scene. A vivid testimony to Fellini’s legacy and the enduring influence of his unmistakable style on contemporary cinema.

On Thursday, June 12, starting at 6:30 PM, the documentary “Fellini and Beyond” by Francesco Gallo and Sabrina La Macchia will be screened, followed by the medium-length film in four episodes “Torna, resta” by directors Mino Capuano, Marco De Filippo, Tommaso Banti, Ludovico Bosica, and Alain Parroni.

On Friday, June 13 at 6 PM, the program will continue with the documentary “Amarfellini” by Veronica Citi, followed by “Orrendi scarabocchi” (animation) by Virginia Ardizzone and Giulia Brighenti, “Omaggio a F.” short film by Daniele Ciprì, “Rome” (audiovisual) by Marco and Aurelia Pietrolini, “Quattro e un quarto” (animation) by Laura Ettori, “Satyricon: ubique latens” by Gabriele Gianni and Giulio Pernice, and the trailer for the documentary “Fellini senza angeli” by Serena Lazzaro and Tommaso Banti.

All films are in Italian with English subtitles. Admission to the screenings is free upon registration at the following link.
All works featured in the festival will be available for rewatching on June 18 from 10:00 AM and on June 19 from 2:00 PM, again in the Institute’s screening room.

“Homage to Fellini, the genius who speaks to new generations” is the second stop, after Madrid, of the GRAND TOUR AFAM (scientific coordination by Fabio Mongelli and international coordination by Genny Di Bert), an international project to promote Italian culture and creativity, coordinated by the Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA). The project involves 14 AFAM institutions (higher education in the arts, music and dance), 2 public institutions (CNR and Sapienza University of Rome), the Municipality of Rimini, Confindustria – Young Entrepreneurs, and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAECI).

The Prague stop is organized in collaboration with the Institute and under the patronage of the Italian Embassy, with the support of the Eleutheria Foundation in Prague.
