RUFA partners with MAG TO MAG 2025: students take centre stage at the international independent magazine festival.
Following the success of the previous edition, RUFA confirms its participation as a partner of MAG TO MAG 2025, the international festival dedicated to independent magazines, scheduled for 13–14 September 2025 at BASE Milano (via Bergognone 34). Born from the vision of Frab’s Magazines and supported by the Municipality of Milan and the Lombardy Region, the festival has quickly become a European reference point for enthusiasts of independent publishing, connecting creators, authors and magazine publishers from around the world. The 2025 edition will host 85 selected publishers – 30 more than in 2024 – showcasing publications spanning graphic design, literature, photography, cinema, fashion and more, with participants coming from the United States, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Greece, the Netherlands, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Spain and Italy.
Once again this year RUFA will be present with its own stand, turning it into a space for dialogue and discovery.
Visitors will have the chance to explore the most significant thesis projects created by RUFA students, alongside a selection of works developed during the academic year, including Mezzo magazine – the result of research and creativity from the Graphic Design course – and BOZZA, developed by students of Comics and Illustration. The showcase will also feature the latest edition of the RUFA Annual Report (2022), offering an in-depth overview of the Academy’s activities and initiatives.
RUFA’s participation in MAG TO MAG goes beyond exhibition: students from the Graphic Design, Comics and Illustration, and Visual and Innovation Design programmes will be actively involved throughout the entire event, working side by side with international professionals and publishers, under the guidance of professors Stefano Cipolla, Emanuele Cappelli and Claudio Spuri, with contributions from Elisa Abbadessa and Davide Luccini. Thanks to this partnership, students will also have the unique opportunity to attend a series of free thematic workshops dedicated to the world of independent magazines, gaining hands-on experience and fresh perspectives on the industry.
The theme chosen for the 2025 edition is “In-Between”, a reflection on the role of printed magazines as spaces of connection and experimentation in an era of cultural and social transformation. MAG TO MAG confirms itself as an unmissable event for anyone eager to explore the vibrancy of independent publishing and discover how print continues to innovate language, content and design.
