RUFA Milan launches a new series of talks dedicated to the world of comics and illustration: We Talk about Comics, a format designed to bring students, professionals and the public into dialogue through talks, meetings and moments of exchange with some of the most interesting voices on the contemporary scene.

The events, open to the public with free admission, aim to offer students and the creative community the opportunity to meet authors, illustrators and professionals from the field, exploring languages, creative processes and professional perspectives. The series is curated by Claudio Spuri, coordinator of the RUFA Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design – Comics and Illustration, active across RUFA’s campuses in Rome and Milan.

The first event will take place on Wednesday, March 19 at the RUFA Milan campus in Piazzale Lugano 19 and will feature illustrator and art director Francesco Poroli as guest speaker.
Introducing the guest and moderating the talk will be MARTOZ, illustrator, comic artist and RUFA faculty member.

The visual identity of the initiative was developed by RUFA student Gabriele Gullifa (Graphic Design – RUFA Milan), as part of the Graphic Design 2 course taught by Paolo Buonaiuto.

«Disegnini Ergo Sum»

Francesco Poroli’s talk, titled Disegnini Ergo Sum, will be a journey into the profession of illustration and the power of images as tools for communication.

Through concrete examples and the reading of real briefs received throughout his career from international companies and magazines, Poroli will explain how images can become vehicles for ideas, values and narratives. From style to visual language, from inspiration to the importance of building a solid visual culture, the talk will offer a direct insight into how “little drawings” can turn into corporate communication and perhaps even help change the world.

Francesco Poroli is a freelance illustrator and art director.
Born and based in Milan, since 2000 he has collaborated with international magazines and brands.
His work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Wired, GQ and Il Sole 24 Ore, while his clients include Campari, Apple, NBA, Barilla, Lamborghini and Nespresso.
