Everything you need to know about Adobe InDesign software condensed into a concise and comprehensive course: develop new skills and enhance your professional profile.
The intensive Adobe InDesign course offered by RUFA is aimed at those who want to improve and specialise in the field of digital graphic communication. The primary goal is to provide a basic knowledge of the programme in a short time. The course covers complete learning of fundamental tools, functions, and processes, professional layout techniques, and the creation of brochures, catalogues, books, and magazines through the use of advanced graphic layouts.

At the end of the course, a certificate of attendance is issued to participants who attend at least 12 of the 15 scheduled lessons, which may be credited as 2 CFU.

• Use of grids and layout templates

Lesson 2 – Managing basic content
• Inserting and managing text and images
• Principles of visual composition
• Hands-on exercises on simple documents

Lesson 3 – Layout and master pages
• Managing pages and master pages
• Linking text frames
• Organizing repetitive layouts and visual consistency

Lesson 4 – Typographic styles and integration with other software
• Paragraph and character styles
• Importing content from Photoshop and Illustrator
• Font management and visual consistency

Lesson 5 – Multi-page projects
• Creating brochures, magazines, and book layouts
• Automatic page numbering
• Creating tables of contents and indexes

Lesson 6 – Professional export and final exercise
• Export formats for print and digital
• Preparing files for printing
• Practical exercise and group review

Lesson 7 – Automation and advanced workflows
• Shared libraries and snippets
• Nested styles and GREP for typographic automation
• Advanced tables and data import
• Book panel for managing complex publications
• Naming conventions, folder structures, versioning, and link management

Lesson 8 – Interactivity and multimedia output
• Creating interactive PDFs and digital publications
• Links, buttons, and navigable tables of contents
• Inserting multimedia content (video, audio, animations)
• Designing for tablets and e-books (reflowable and fixed layout)
• Exporting for web and mobile devices

Lesson 9 – Final project and professional presentation
• Analysis of a real simulated brief and definition of the graphic concept
• Creation of a complete project (magazine, catalog, e-book, corporate report)
• Preparation of mock-ups and portfolio
• Presentation and critical discussion of projects

Acquired skills

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

The first 6 lessons (from February 21 to March 28) are shared with the Adobe© Visual Design Lab course group and serve as an applied review of InDesign software.

Professional graphic designer since 2005, specialising in editorial design and brand identity.
Over the years, he has worked on projects for various organisations, including Rai Trade, Cartoons on the Bay, Fondazione Memmo, Ugo Bozzi Editore, and VyTA.
Since 2008, he has been involved in education: he taught graphic design at the Scuola Internazionale di Comics in Rome until 2019. He is currently the coordinator of the three-year Graphic Design course at ACCA Academy and a Professional Hub instructor at RUFA.
