RUFA student Helena Litvinyuk among Rometti Prize finalists

Design student Helena Litvinyuk has been selected as one of the finalists in the 12th edition of the Rometti Prize, an international competition organised by the historic Umbrian manufacturer and reserved for students from Art and Design Academies around the world.

The competition aims to promote innovation and originality in the field of ceramic art, opening the doors of manufacturing to young people, in an ongoing dialogue between art, craft and design.
This year, the jury had to evaluate no less than 150 projects, created by students from twelve Italian and international art academies, universities and design institutes. As stipulated in the call for entries, six projects were awarded by the jury, composed of experts and chaired by the great designer Ugo La Pietra.

The selected young creatives will have the opportunity to carry out a one-week internship in the historic Rometti factory, from Monday 24 to Friday 28 July 2023, where they will give concrete form to their ideas, side by side with the factory’s expert workers.

All selected projects:

MERCURIO – Lamp by Helena Litvinyuk (RUFA Rome University of Fine Arts, Roma)
ARIZONA – Vase by Melania Presti (ABAFI – Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze)
CREATURA DEL MARE – Vase by Centonze Simone (IED Milano)
LE BOULES – Set of vases by Chiara Zannotti (Nuovo Istituto di Design di Perugia)
LETTERA AL SOLE – Vase by Eric Beard (UW University of Washington)
LULUDI – Mirror by Maria Mazzetta, Alice Palestini, Anna Toppi (ISIA Pescara)

The award ceremony with the final vote will then take place in October, and a cash prize will also be awarded to the top three.
For everyone there is also the possibility, which has materialised several times in the past editions, that their project will be put into production by the factory, thus becoming an important springboard into the world of work, given the constant collaborations of the factory with designers and companies of the calibre of Ugo La Pietra, Chantal Thomass, Roberto Capucci, Cucinelli, Kenzo, Roche Bobois.
