Fashion design sostenibile

Success for RUFA Fashion Design: Mattia Siciliano reaches the final of the prestigious “Manichino d’Oro 2026” competition.

A great source of pride for the Fashion Design programme at RUFA: Mattia Siciliano, a third-year student, has officially been selected to represent the Lazio Region in the national final of the renowned “Manichino d’Oro 2026” competition, promoted by the Accademia Nazionale dei Sartori and sponsored by Carnet Gruppo Ratti SB.

This is a significant achievement, especially considering that our students competed against under-40 talents from the regional worlds of craftsmanship, fashion and tailoring. The selection therefore rewarded not only professionalism and strong practical skills — such as pattern making and creativity — but also the garment manufacturing process itself.

Having been confirmed as a finalist for Lazio, Mattia is now expected to take part in the demanding national competition, which will be held in Rome at the legal and operational headquarters of the Accademia Nazionale dei Sartori from 1 to 6 June 2026.

The “Manichino d’Oro” final is renowned for its strictness and technical rigour: candidates will be given the same amount of paper and fabric and will be required to create their garment based on a theme that will be announced on the first day by the Competition Director, Lucia Lacognata. A true test of the highest level of craftsmanship, designed to bring to light the excellence of tomorrow’s Italian tailoring industry.

The closing event, following the jury’s deliberations, will culminate in the award ceremony on the evening of 6 June.

The entire RUFA community wishes Mattia the very best of luck for this extraordinary challenge and congratulates him on the excellent results he has already achieved. A tangible and valuable sign confirming how the educational path undertaken — strongly focused on practice and high-level professionalism — truly represents the winning approach.
